TUCSON, Ariz. – LA Galaxy head coach Sigi Schmid addressed rumors linking the club to Manchester United striker Zlatan Ibrahimović on Tuesday.
Last week, longstanding rumors linking the Galaxy to a move for the Swedish forward resurfaced following a tweet from ESPN FC’s Taylor Twellman stating that a deal was a possibility.
Talk about Ibrahimović joining the Galaxy is nothing new as club President Chris Klein revealed after the team’s signing of Jonathan dos Santos last July that the club have had past interest in the Swede.
Speaking at his team's training camp in Tucson, Ariz., Schmid stated that talk of the Galaxy signing Ibrahimović was purely speculation at this point.
“There’s been a lot of talk about it in the past and it’s something that maybe gets opened up again,” Schmid told LA Galaxy Insider. “I don’t know what’s there. If there was something there, I’m sure we’d all know. Right now, it’s all rumors.”
