CARSON, Calif. – The inaugural LA Galaxy Cup presented by Rocket League proved to be a great success.
The six-day tournament in Orange County featured some of the most renowned clubs across the globe. FC Porto U-14’s took home the hardware in the showpiece U-14 international tournament with a 4-0 victory over Sporting Kansas City’s U-14 squad at Orange County Great Park in Irvine on April 1.
Designed to present new challenges for the LA Galaxy Academy and other top academies in Southern California, the program went off without a hitch.
“To create something unique and different for our academy and the top local academies in Southern California, we put a lot of effort into bringing international teams into the competition,” Programming and fan development consultant Dan Kennedy said. "We all feel like this tournament was a great success. It gives us a template to build upon, and we learned how we could continuously improve the event and heighten the experience for future participants.
“The LA Galaxy Cup lives on. The club has a grand ambition to create a unique playing experience for teams all over the world.”
