FOXBOROUGH, Mass. Jermaine Jones will lead the LA Galaxy against his old team on Saturday, but don’t call the match a revenge clash for the veteran midfielder.
Jones returned to the lineup on Wednesday in his first MLS action in 10 weeks since suffering an MCL Sprain back in May. The match will be Jones’ first trip back to Gillette Stadium since he departed the Revolution after a year-and-a-half in New England.
Likely to get the nod with Joao Pedro unavailable due to yellow card accumulation, Jones is ready for the challenge.
“It’s an easy game, it’s an ex-club, and of course I still have a bunch of friends there but it’s a regular game. I think I’m out of the age where I say [returning to New England is] something special,” Jones said. “I know [the Gillette Stadium turf] is not easy to play on, but I played one and half years on it. It’s tough for teams to come there and get points but of course, I want to play.”
