Armando Guzman, a 20-year-old midfielder from La Puente, Calif. is paired with the U.S. international. For the veteran midfielder and father of five, participating in the Special Olympics program is a privilege.
“It’s always something special. It’s only a couple of minutes for us, but it’s worth hours to them. It’s pretty cool to see the guys laughing and joking with the team,” Jones told LA Galaxy Insider. “We will see them on some of our away trips. I hope that they have a good season and we will be rooting for them all the way.”
Although Jones has only spent a few months in Los Angeles, the 35-year-old is overjoyed to welcome the Special Olympics Unified team to the Galaxy family with open arms.
“This is amazing that the Galaxy step forward and do this,’ Jones said. “You see the smiles on the faces of the guys and girls of the team because they can’t wait to step on the field and play for the Galaxy. We’re all a big family, and I would say that they are a part of the Galaxy family and we look forward to all being together. “
