CARSON, Calif. – Jonathan dos Santos already loves Los Angeles, and now he’s ready to win trophies for the LA Galaxy.
The Galaxy announced the signing of the 27-year-old Mexican international as the club’s latest Designated Player on Thursday. Dos Santos joins his older brother Giovani who signed with the Galaxy in 2015.
Dos Santos joins the Galaxy after spending the entirety of his eight-year professional career in Spain with FC Barcelona and C.F. Villarreal. Arguably the top midfielder in the Mexican national team set up; dos Santos arrives in Los Angeles eager to bring titles to his new club.
“I’m really happy to be here to play for such a great club. With all its history and of course to be with my brother again,” dos Santos said to LAGalaxy.com.
“The first thing I told my brother is that I wanted to win titles here and to be a figure in this league like he has been doing for the past two years. I’m here to make history with the team.”
And to play for his beloved City of Angels only makes it better for the Galaxy’s newest midfielder.
“To be completely honest, Los Angeles is my favorite city in the entire world. There is a large Mexican population probably the largest in the [United States],” dos Santos said. “All the people here are really nice. It’s a spectacular city that is very nice. Anyone would want to be here.”
