CARSON, Calif. – Juan Carlos Osorio confirmed that Giovani dos Santos will only participate in “official” matches for Mexico this summer.
Dos Santos was named to the 32-man preliminary roster for Mexico’s upcoming friendlies in the USA as well as World Cup Qualifiers and FIFA Confederations Cup. Per Mexico’s head coach, dos Santos will only participate in the World Cup qualifiers and potentially the FIFA Confederations Cup in Russia.
“Giovani is active with his club, so it’s impossible for him to play during the U.S. tour, but he will concentrate on the World Cup qualifiers and FIFA Confederations Cup,” Osorio told reporters.
The 28-year-old Mexican striker who has two goals in his last two matches will join El Tri on June 4.
