LA Galaxy believe they know how to get Giovani dos Santos back on track | INSIDER

The LA Galaxy understand the Giovani dos Santos is not having his best season to date with the club and are doing whatever they can to get their Mexican international striker back in form.

Dos Santos has been held without a goal since May but has had several close calls since.  The 28-year-old forward admitted his frustrations following the team's defeat to Atlanta and after the club's third straight loss in Kansas City, head coach Sigi Schmid gave his key to helping the Mexican break his slump.

“Well he’s staying up front and he’s trying to do that," he said. "I’d like to see him get a few more looks at goal but sometimes I don’t think we’re good enough getting the ball to him at the right time and you know he needs to find the ball as well. It’s a combination of both things but I know it’s frustrating for him. I appreciate his willingness to stay up there and stay dangerous.

Against Kansas City, dos Santos touched the ball 34 times, registering two dangerous chances one which was brilliantly saved by Tim Melia and another that was ruled offside.

As the team ends a tumultuous 2017, Schmid is bullish that if the team “stays committed to what they’re doing,” dos Santos’ form will improve and his leading goal scorer Romain Alessandrini agrees.

“We have to play a little bit earlier to be good with the ball,” Alessandrini said. “We need Gio with the ball and alone because he has a good left foot and gives a good ball. But every time he is with maybe two or three defenders, like me, so it’s difficult.”
