ATLANTA – The LA Galaxy honored the victims of the tragic earthquake in Mexico by donning special black armbands during the team’s match against Atlanta United on Wednesday.
On Tuesday, central Mexico was devastated by a 7.1 Earthquake that at present has cost the lives of 250 people. The tragedy occurred on the 32-year anniversary of the nation’s deadliest earthquake in 1985 and just weeks after another tremor struck the region.
Galaxy forward and Mexican international Giovani dos Santos offered his support and prayers for those affected by the tragedy.
“I'm obviously moved. From far away I've tried to help however I can, donating and sending messages and making sure my family is also doing okay, which is the most important,” Dos Santos said after Wednesday’s game at Mercedes-Benz Stadium. “It's a good moment for us to unite as a country and help each other.”
