The LA Galaxy Foundation continued its mission to educate local youth about their sustainability efforts when 50 4th and 5th graders from Aldama Elementary School took a field trip to the StubHub Center last Thursday, October 25th.

Students arrived just in time to catch the end of Galaxy II practice and got autographs from the entire team. Galaxy II Goalkeeper Wade Hamilton, sought out the lone goalie from the school and gave him a pair of his gloves. As practice ended, the students made their way to the stadium for a behind-the-scenes tour.

The tour concluded with a visit to the StubHub Center garden. Met by gardening club members Joe Ward and Chris Hybl, the students learned about the edible garden that grows inside the StubHub Center and even got a chance to feed the chickens on site.

After students were provided lunch in the American Express Stadium Club, Rachel Black from Garden School Foundation, an organization that provides in-depth garden-based education to Title I schools such as Aldama Elementary, instructed her students on a quick and healthy, apple crisp recipe.

With a full stomach and a t-shirt even more full of signatures, students from Aldama Elementary left the StubHub Center after what was called “the best field trip ever.” The LA Galaxy Foundation’s Protect the Pitch Initiative continues to provide the opportunity to welcome students to visit the StubHub Center and learn more about the Galaxy’s positive environmental impacts and efforts.
