CARSON, Calif. – Pele van Anholt’s 2017 campaign is officially over.
LA Galaxy head coach Sigi Schmid confirmed on Tuesday that the 27-year-old right back suffered a torn ACL and a torn meniscus in his right knee. The defender went down with the injury in the second half of the Galaxy’s 3-0 defeat to the San Jose Earthquakes last week.
"It was an awkward thing where it looked like his toe got stuck a little bit. Sometimes those things happen," Schmid told LA Galaxy Insider.
Van Anholt is expected to undergo surgery to repair the injury next week.
