LA Galaxy hitting their stride amid seven-game unbeaten run: "Everyone is doing what they're good at"

CHESTER, PA – Don’t look now, but the LA Galaxy are playing their best soccer of 2018.

Los Angeles extended their unbeaten run to seven games with a 3-1 win over the Philadelphia Union at a rainy Talen Energy Stadium. Ola Kamara, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, and Michael Ciani delivered the goals, while Romain Alessandrini provided two assists in the win.

For the first time this season, the Galaxy have won three games in a row and are unbeaten since May.

According to Ibrahimović, the success is due to the team’s increasing familiarity.

“We all connect more now, we’re used each other in a better way,” he said. “We have different qualities. Everyone is doing what they’re good at.”

Head coach Sigi Schmid agreed that after being ravaged by injuries early this season, the squad is finally hitting their stride.

“We’ve got to continue to build on our good run,” Schmid told Spectrum SportsNet. “We have to continue to believe in ourselves. Today was the first time that we’ve had everyone on the field at one point.”

After collecting two wins from Eastern Conference opposition, the in-form Galaxy now find themselves in fourth place in the Western Conference table—their highest positioning since April.

Just eight points back of first in the West, the Galaxy turn their attention to next Thursday’s clash with LAFC. Los Angeles famously took the first match against the squad with a dramatic 4-3 win on Ibrahimović’s debut.

“This is the first time we’ve won three in a row this season," forward Ola Kamara said. "That’s unbelievably important ahead of that LAFC game. That’s a big one for us and it’s big going into that game.

“We’re developing all the time. Everyone is fighting for each other.”
