LA Galaxy kicked off a new partnership with American Heart Association (AHA) when the club hosted HeartChase at StubHub Center on March 7 as Galaxy defender A.J. DeLaGarza and his wife Megan both attended in support of the interactive fundraising event.
HeartChase saw groups from different organizations compete in interactive challenges to help raise funds to support AHA and their mission of fighting heart disease. Along with DeLaGarza and his wife, Galaxy mascot Cozmo and the Star Squad were on hand as teams from Kaiser Permanente, Planet Fitness and FTF Training Center all competed in the various challenges.
To start the event, DeLaGarza welcomed the groups and discussed how heart disease has impacted his family while thanking them for their support of the cause. Then the Galaxy defender and his wife, along with various Star Squad members, participated in the different challenges to support HeartChase.
The LA Galaxy Foundation (LAGF) and AHA partnership will help fund life-saving work and inspire the Los Angeles community to live with healthy hearts. Among the funded programs will be curriculum engaging young people in heart healthy physical activity, blood pressure screenings for women, and congenital heart defect support groups. Funding will support innovative scientific research, setting science-based best practices for treating heart disease and stroke and advocating for policies that positively impact cardiovascular health. Join the LA Galaxy in support of the AHA by visiting the LAGF booth in Soccer Fest during any home game to purchase a t-shirt or bracelet with all proceeds benefiting the partnership
