NEW YORK – Could Sebastian Lletget be ready to make his first start in nearly a year against New York City FC?
The 2018 season may be just a week old, but the Galaxy are reeling with injuries as Romain Alessandrini, Chris Pontius and Ema Boateng are either sidelined or are injury question marks for this weekend’s match. The lack of capable wide players could see Lletget enter the fray and make his first start since suffering a Lisfranc fracture a year ago.
“Every week is getting interesting. We had a great preseason where everyone was healthy, but after the first game, we’ve been iffy with a couple of guys. I might have to [play], but I am ready, and thankfully, I’ve prepared for that. I think we’ve done a good job preparing me for that throughout that preseason.
Earlier in the week, head coach Sigi Schmid stated that Lletget is not 90 minutes fit, but the midfielder believes that he can do a job if called upon on Sunday.
“We did well against them in the preseason, and I’ll be able to play,” Lletget said.
