CARSON, Calif. – FIFA 18 The Journey is coming to StubHub Center.
On Friday, EA SPORTS™ and the Galaxy announced that Alex Hunter will join the LA Galaxy as part of FIFA 18 The Journey. The Journey which became one of the most celebrated features of the game when introduced a year ago, features Hunter, a young English striker and allows players to experience the highs and lows of his story arc throughout the season.
The story mode will heavily feature Galaxy striker Gyasi Zardes in a speaking role. For the club to be featured in the world’s preeminent soccer video game is a blessing and an honor according to the Hawthorne native.
“It’s a huge honor to be involved in FIFA. I grew up playing FIFA and to be a part of the Journey mode with Alex Hunter; it’s mind-blowing. It’s a huge blessing and a huge honor,” Zardes said. “It’s a huge deal for Alex Hunter to join the Galaxy out of all the clubs in the world.
“Los Angeles is a great place, and for all the game players on FIFA to experience the great organization of the LA Galaxy, it’s a huge honor.”
In addition to Hunter signing for the Galaxy, FIFA 18 The Journey features a stunning, in-depth look at StubHub Center throughout the gameplay. The story allows fans to be immersed in the Galaxy locker room and provides a complete view of the unique StubHub Center scenery.
The Galaxy’s iconic venue will be a playable stadium in EA SPORTS™ FIFA 18 for the PlayStation®4, Xbox One and PC systems. StubHub Center’s inclusion marks the first time that a soccer-specific stadium in Major League Soccer is featured in an EA SPORTS™ FIFA franchise.
“It’s huge for the Galaxy to be a part of the Journey. It’s important so that we’re known even more worldwide,” said forward Ari Lassiter whose father Roy was on the cover of FIFA 98: Road to the World Cup. “Every person in the world plays this game so it’s an honor and a blessing to be a part of this.
Added Bradford Jamieson IV, “It’s really cool experience to be a team that is featured on one of the biggest games in the world. It’s cool. You already play [The Journey] to feel more in the lifestyle and more in the game. You’re practically playing your life in a video game.”
International recognition is nothing new for the Galaxy, but to allow gameplayers from across the globe to get a close-hand look at the club is quite extraordinary Jamieson admits.
“It’s big from the club to be noticed on a grander scale, even though the club is already pretty well known across the world,” Jamieson said. “You always want to find the next thing to expose the club [to people] in a positive way, and I think that this is the best way to do it. Every person that loves football loves FIFA, so it’s a no-brainer.”
