LA Galaxy prepare to face San Jose Earthquakes in first California Clásico of 2018 | Weekly Schedule

LOS ANGELES (Tuesday, May 22, 2018) – The LA Galaxy (4-6-1, 13 points) return to StubHub Center this week for the first California Clásico of the season when they host the San Jose Earthquakes on Friday, May 25 at 8 p.m. PT (UniMás). The match will serve as a doubleheader, as the LA Galaxy Special Olympics Southern California (SOSC) Unified Team will make their 2018 debut when they play the LA Galaxy Academy immediately following the MLS match. Tickets to Friday’s contests are available at www.lagalaxy.com/tickets. 

All-time, the LA Galaxy have gone 30-22-14 during MLS Regular Season games against the Earthquakes. Friday’s game will mark LA’s first match against San Jose this season, with the two sides set to face each other again on June 30 in San Jose. The match will also mark the end of a three-game road for LA, who last played at StubHub Center in April.

Last week, the LA Galaxy announced that the club had signed 20 new players to contract for the LA Galaxy Special Olympics Southern California (SOSC) Unified Team ahead of the 2018 season, which will begin this Friday. After participating in an open tryout earlier in the season, the 20 players were selected based on three criteria: (1) their ability to value and work with teammates of all abilities, (2) their commitment to the Play Unified experience and their teammates, and (3) their understanding of the game of soccer and its rules. All fans are encouraged to remain in their seats following the MLS match Friday to watch the LA Galaxy SOSC Unified Team make their 2018 debut.

In their most recent match, LA earned a 1-0 win on the road over the Montreal Impact as forward Ola Kamara scored in his fourth-straight game for the Galaxy. Kamara now has five goals on the season and 39 in his MLS career.
