LOS ANGELES – LA Galaxy president Chris Klein says it’s an “honor” for his club to serve as hosts for Mexico’s send-off match before the 2018 FIFA World Cup.
The Mexican football federation announced on Thursday that Mexico will face off against Wales at the Rose Bowl on May 28th ahead of the 2018 FIFA World Cup. The Memorial Day weekend clash will be the culmination of a week of events across Los Angeles to celebrate the nation’s participation in the tournament.
For Klein, hosting the exhibition is part of the Galaxy's responsibility as the premier soccer club in the City of Angels.
“Being the soccer team in LA, anytime that we host guests whether it’s an international club team or a national team, it’s an honor for us,” Klein told LAGalaxy.com. “We have many Galaxy fans that are supporters of the Mexican national team and players that are a part of the team, so to be able to send them off to the World Cup in our city is something that we’re happy to do.
“This is our city and we have a great partner in the Rose Bowl. We’ve done many wonderful games there and we look forward to sending Mexico off to the World Cup in a great way.”
