CARSON, Calif. – The LA Galaxy are among one of the world’s richest clubs according to SoccerEx’s Football Finance 100.
The Galaxy were ranked 14th in the rankings which analyze each club’s assets, their economic power for future investments, and their net debts. Los Angeles' was placed ahead of Atletico Madrid, Liverpool FC, and Borussia Dortmund.
For their 2018 rankings, the independent ranking service, which works with independent academics, analyzed the 2015-16 financial year. Soccer Ex’s rankings were compiled by designating weight to and then adding together the following factors: Playing assets, Fixed assets (venues, training, etc.), cash in the bank, and the owner’s potential investment. The club’s net debt was subtracted from the weighted sum to create the final number.
Four other MLS teams were included in the top 30 of the rankings: New York Red Bulls (23), Seattle Sounders FC (24), New York City FC (25), New England Revolution (28).
