LA Galaxy seeking to build off unbeaten run with a fast start against New York Red Bulls | INSIDER

HANOVER, N.J. -- The LA Galaxy are developing a reputation as a second-half team, and that’s something they’re looking to change this weekend against New York Red Bulls.

The Galaxy have scored just three goals during the first half this season compared to a whopping seven in the final 45 minutes of matches. In all but one of the four games that the Galaxy have earned points in this season, Curt Onalfo’s squad relied on timely strikes in the second half to secure a result.

On the heels of their two-goal comeback against the Chicago Fire last week, Onalfo and his men believe that it is vital to building off the momentum—starting with Sunday’s trip to Red Bull Arena.

“It’s about having a good start to the game and having the right mentality starting with Sunday’s game. For me, it’s a mentality. The message is heard loud and clear, and I anticipate that we’ll start well,” Onalfo said. “Having said that teams come out with a lot of energy at home. Red Bull hasn’t won in two games, and they have a fantastic home record so they’ll come out strong. They’re a very good team, but we have to be ready right from the beginning.”

Added forward Gyasi Zardes, “We have to be more aggressive and more confident as players. Myself, I need to be more aggressive in this next game. When I have opportunities to take on defenders, I need to utilize my strengths to help the team.”
