LOS ANGELES – The LA Galaxy U-17’s advanced to the GA Cup Champions Division quarterfinals with a 2-1 win over Peñarol on Monday.
Andre Ochoa and Martin Killeen scored for Andrew May’s squad to put them through into the Knockout Round along with Group C winners Dinamo Zagreb. The Galaxy earned a 1-1-1 record during the group stage.
"The group stage games, against quality opponents, has tested our mental strength. Since the games come quick and fast, win or lose, you need to quickly gather your emotions and refocus on the next game," U-17 head coach Andrew May said. "Nothing changes in our mindset for quarter-finals, we will prepare the same way and the message is to continue to do what we have been doing."
The Galaxy will face English club West Ham United on Tuesday in their quarterfinal contest. The match will be televised at 5:30 PM PT on Twitch and LAGalaxy.com.
