CARSON, Calif. – The LA Galaxy U-17’s opened the Generation Adidas Cup with a 1-0 victory on Friday against Mexican side C.F. Pachuca.
Eduardo “Lalo” Blancas scored the lone goal for Los Angeles who powered past the Academy of the famed Mexican club.
The goal came in the 34th minute when Galaxy Homegrown forward Efrain Alvarez found Blancas who fired in a shot from the top of the penalty area for the lone goal of the evening.
With their goal in hand, the Galaxy U-17's put forth a stout defensive showing as they kept the Mexican side at bay. Perhaps no one shined brighter than holding midfielder Oscar Cervantes, who kept Pachuca academy star Raul Castillo Gonzalez under wraps preventing him from leading his team back.
The U-17's return to action on Sunday when they face off against French giants AS Monaco. One of France's top academies, Monaco's most recent academy product was Kylian Mbappe, a 19-year-oldFrench international who was recently sold to Paris St. Germain for 180 Million Euros.
