CARSON, Calif. – LA Galaxy Special Olympics Unified forward Logan Jones’ screamer against the San Jose Earthquakes took home the LA Galaxy Goal of the Month award for August.
The 20-year-old from Simi Valley beat out four other entrants by winning more than 90 percent of the vote. The Special Olympics Unified athlete joins Justin Dhillon, Jonah Estrada, Giovani dos Santos, Efrain Alvarez, and Dave Romney as winners of the competition.
Jones’ tally came in the closing minutes of the Galaxy Unified team’s victory over the Earthquakes on Aug. 27 when he launched a blast from distance that helped seal a 4-0 win. The goal drew national attention after being featured on SportCenter's Top 10.
Jones and the LA Galaxy Special Olympics Southern California (SOSC) Unified squad enjoyed a perfect season in 2017, winning all three games, tallying 20 goals while carrying a +15 goal differential.
