CARSON, Calif. – Nashville is joining Major League Soccer, but we’ll have to wait until next year to see whether Cincinnati, Detroit or Sacramento will join them.
On the heels of the Nashville announcement a day earlier, the league announced on Thursday that they remain in discussions with the other three finalists to determine the next team awarded in this round of expansion. In a statement, the league stated that will take additional time to review all three bids and then make an announcement during the new year.
LAFC will be the lone expansion entrant in 2018, while Nashville or any of the other three finalists or potentially David Beckham’s Miami club could join the league in either 2019, 2020 or 2021.
