MLS unveils uniforms for 2016 MLS All-Star Game | INSIDER

MLS AllStar

The jerseys the MLS All-Stars will use at the 2016 MLS All-Star Game have officially been unveiled.

The league rolled out new uniforms for this summer's 2016 MLS All-Star Game at San Jose's Avaya Stadium on Friday. The jerseys feature a light-blue design similar to those of the host San Jose Earthquakes.

The color is not the only defining detail of the uniforms which make extra effort to tell the story of the league's ethos. On the inside of the back neck, there is a Canadian flag maple leaf alongside the Stars and Stripes to depict the two nations that compete in MLS. Along the back side of the neck, the MLS slogan "club, country and community" are featured prominently. The final touch is on the uniform's jock tag which depicts three redwood trees in honor of the reclaimed redwood used throughout Avaya Stadium.

"Each year we like to incorporate aspects of the host team and city into the shirt," Mike Walker, Global Product Manager for Major League Soccer told Soccer Bible. "For 2016 the game is at the Quakes new stadium in San Jose, so we took inspiration from the club’s crest and the different shades of blue from the seats inside the stadium."
