Need for a change of scenery brings Rolf Feltscher to LA Galaxy: "I came to L.A. to enjoy my football"

TUCSON, Ariz. – Rolf Feltscher needed a change of scenery after playing his entire professional career in Europe, and a move to the LA Galaxy seemed like a natural fit for the Venezuelan defender.

The Galaxy brought in the 27-year-old Venezuelan international in the offseason to settle a right back position that became a revolving door a year ago. During his 10-year career in Europe, Feltscher made more than 200 appearances for nine clubs across Europe.

“I’m very happy to play for the LA Galaxy. It’s a big, big club, so I’m happy to be here in Los Angeles,” Feltscher told LA Galaxy Insider. “I had a lot of years in Europe with many clubs, so I decided to make a new experience here in Major League Soccer. I think new experiences are beneficial and I think that this is going to be very good for me.”

Feltscher’s signing ends the Galaxy’s lengthy courtship of the Venezuelan defender who the team tabbed to fill Robbie Rogers’ space after the now retired defender went down due to injury last February. Finally, in a Galaxy uniform, Feltscher believes great things are ahead.

“I came to [Los Angeles]  to enjoy football, not because I wanted to enjoy the city.”
