CARSON, Calif. – The LA Galaxy will rely on alumni from LA Galaxy II when they host USL squad Orange County SC in Wednesday’s U.S. Open Cup fourth round match.
Former Los Dos boss Curt Onalfo will lead a squad containing 10 of 11 players having been products of our having spent significant time with the USL affiliate in recent years. Not only will Onalfo’s squad have heavy Los Dos connections, but it’s fate that they will face Galaxy II’s USL foe at the StubHub Center Track and Field Stadium.
A total of six of the players who will get starts (Nathan Smith, Dave Romney, Hugo Arellano, Jaime Villarreal, Ari Lassiter, and Jack McBean) were signed directly from Galaxy II, while four others (Jon Kempin, Rafael Garcia, Bradford Jamieson IV, and Jose Villarreal) have played for the squad over the past three seasons.
In reserve, Onalfo will be able to potentially call upon longtime Galaxy II contributors Clement Diop and Bradley Diallo, who each joined the first team over the past two seasons.
In addition to the first teamers, left back Josh Turnley joins the Galaxy on a short-term loan from the second team. The 2016 MLS SuperDraft pick from Georgetown spent training camp with Onalfo’s squad and has played for two seasons with Galaxy II.
