CARSON, Calif. – Robbie Rogers’ status for the 2018 season is still up in the air per LA Galaxy head coach Sigi Schmid.
Rogers was placed on the Season Ending Injury list in May because of an offseason surgery to repair nerve damage in his left ankle. The 29-year-old outside back made 22 MLS appearances for the Galaxy last season.
Due to the extent of the injury, Rogers has rehabbed offsite with frequent check-ins with the Galaxy’s medical staff during the season. However, whether he returns next year is firmly in his court according to Schmid.
“That’s for Robbie to say," Schmid, who was Rogers' coach during his time with Columbus Crew SC, told reporters earlier this week. "We’ve had some discussions, and we’ll probably be talking again in the next week or two. He’s got to come to a decision.”
