CARSON, Calif. – Steven Gerrard expects to return to the lineup on Saturday when the LA Galaxy host Vancouver Whitecaps FC.
The 36-year-old midfielder was given a rest for Wednesday’s clash with the Chicago Fire after going the distance in the team’s 1-0 defeat to New York City FC four days earlier. Gerrard was back in training on Friday ahead of the Vancouver match and eager to return to action.
“I feel good. I had a rest in midweek, and I’m ready to go and have a good performance. I’m fresh, and I feel like I’m in decent form,” Gerrard told reporters. “I’m creating chances for the team, and I want to try and push on to finish the season as strong as I can.”
Gerrard currently leads the team in assists with 11, while also scoring three goals in 18 appearances.
