CARSON, Calif. – Major League Soccer announced on Thursday that the league’s Board of Governors approved the addition of three new members of David Beckham’s prospective MLS expansion team.
Jorge Mas, the co-founder, and chairman of the board of MasTec joins the group along with his brother and company CEO Jose Mas. Also joining the group is Japanese entrepreneur Masayoshi Son, the founder, and CEO of SoftBank.
The league is expecting to make a further announcement on the club’s status ahead of the 2018 MLS regular season.
The ownership group for the prospective Miami club includes the Galaxy legend, Sprint CEO and Brightstar founder Marcelo Claure, and entertainment executive Simon Fuller.
