The LA Galaxy earned a 2-1 victory over Minnesota United on Sunday, but that wasn’t enough for the team to rise in all three prominent MLS Power Rankings. In fact, they dropped on MLSsoccer.com’s list.
What the what?
Giovani dos Santos’ third tally in as many games and a Christian Ramirez own goal gave the Galaxy the win in their first meeting with the Loons on Sunday at TCF Stadium. Los Angeles is now unbeaten in four consecutive matches.
The explanations for all three power rankings are below:
The confidence is almost all the way back for a team missing two starting-level center mids (Jermaine Jones & Baggio Husidic). It’ll feel as if the 2-5-0 start to the season never happened if they can beat the Quakes in San Jose on Saturday.
Manager Curt Onalfo's button-pushing suddenly has the LA Galaxy on a winning streak, with both of the victories coming on the road, most recently a 2-1 result against Minnesota United.
The Galaxy got a much-needed win against Minnesota United, and it used a magic touch from Giovani Dos Santos (and a Christian Ramirez own goal) to do it. Don’t look now, but this much-maligned Galaxy team has now gone four games without a loss and is riding two straight wins. They’ll put that streak on the line this Saturday at San Jose.
