LOS ANGELES -- Efrain Alvarez scored twice and added two assists as Mexico demolished the Solomon Islands at the 2019 Under-17 World Cup in Brazil.
Alvarez found the back of the net in the second minute and the 63rd minute as El Tri's Under-17 qualified for the knockout round as one of the top four third-place seeds in the tournament. The LA Galaxy Academy product has scored three goals for El Tri in the tournament.
Mexico defeated Japan on Wednesday to advance to the World Cup quarterfinals where they will face South Korea.
