LOS ANGELES -- Efrain Alvarez scored his first goal of the Under-17 World Cup, but it was not enough to help Mexico overcome Italy in El Tri's second group stage match of the 2019 tournament.
Alvarez put Mexico on the board in stoppage time with an individual effort as he slashed past several defenders before beating the goalkeeper at the far post.
El Tri is now 0-1-1 at the tournament and will look to qualify for the knockout round game with their final group stage match against the Solomon Islands on Sunday.
