CARSON, Calif. – The LA Galaxy earned a slight bump in the MLS Power Rankings after their 2-2 draw with the Chicago Fire.
The Galaxy are now unbeaten in two matches after last weekend’s draw and will now head on the road for four straight matches starting with Sunday’s clash with the New York Red Bulls.
The explanations for all three prominent power rankings can be found below:
“A first-half captain's sub looks brilliant this week, but what happens if they open flat at Red Bull Arena?”
“It says a lot about the state of the Galaxy’s season that a 2–2 draw at home can be seen as a big positive step forward, but that’s exactly what it was. Down 2–0 to Chicago, the Galaxy dug in and manufactured two goals from set pieces, which at least shows that the ability to grind out ugly results is there. How often will this squad be able to replicate that kind of effort, though? And will Jermaine Jones' injury hamper the squad?”
"The Galaxy's drop continues after Curt Onalfo's team was forced to fight back from a two-goal deficit to earn a draw against the Fire. Jermaine Jones and Jelle Van Damme both came off and L.A. got better. Does that mean Onalfo should drop his DPs, or is there a possible fix with the veterans in the lineup?"
