CARSON, Calif. – Zlatan Ibrahimović joining the LA Galaxy was always written in the stars according to the legendary Swedish forward
The Galaxy unveiled the 36-year-old forward on Friday before more than 100 media members from across the globe. The press conference was the culmination of a three-year-long pursuit by the Galaxy—particularly Technical Director Jovan Kirovski— to sign the Swedish soccer legend.
For Ibrahimović, it was always "destiny" that he'd join the Galaxy.
“It was supposed to happen before Manchester United. My head was here. I wanted to come here and it didn’t happen,” he said. “Destiny said I would come here. Los Angeles called, and I answered.”
In Los Angeles at long last, Ibrahimović says there is no pressure on him to prove anything, he simply wishes to help the Galaxy win titles.
“I’m thankful for the opportunity that I can go in and collect what I’ve been collecting all these years," he said. "I just opened the door. I’ll step in and I’ll bring in so many trophies to this club.
