Brian Rowe looking to move forward after disappointing return performance | INSIDER

CARSON, Calif. – Brian Rowe returned to the lineup in Monday’s U.S. Open Cup match, but the LA Galaxy goalkeeper was less than pleased with his performance.

The goalkeeper backstopped the Galaxy as they fell 3-2 to the San Jose Earthquakes in the U.S. Open Cup quarterfinals at Avaya Stadium on Monday in his first action since picking up a groin injury after the team’s May 27 match. Despite making four saves on the evening, it wasn’t enough as the Galaxy saw their dream of a U.S. Open Cup title go up in smoke.

Following the match, Rowe admitted the match was not his best due to his lengthy absence.

“It’s six weeks back from injury right now and I just started jumping back on the training field last week. I’ve been testing it more and more and, but it was nice to get out there. I thought I didn’t have my best performance tonight and I could have done better on a couple of plays," Rowe told LA Galaxy Insider.
"I wasn’t the sharpest overall. There were some good things to take away, but being out for a little while, I felt the rust out there. I’m just looking forward to learning from the experience and getting my form back up to that good level again.

"Especially as a goalie, you can’t recreate game speed in training or anywhere else. The only place you can get that back is playing games. It wasn’t my best effort, but I’m hoping to move forward and get back to where I was."
