CARSON, Calif. – The LA Galaxy are heading into a “must-win” match this weekend when they host Seattle Sounders FC.
Los Angeles has dropped their last five MLS regular season contests and are winless in their last six games across all competitions. Curt Onalfo’s squad fell 4-3 to New England Revolution last weekend to fall to ninth place in the Western Conference.
They’ll now turn their attention to a Seattle team that rocked Los Angeles, 3-0 in their first trip to StubHub Center back in April. As they look to stop their slide and make a push for the postseason, the Galaxy are not taking the Sounders match lightly.
“Last time they came onto our field, it was an embarrassing game. They’ve always been a rival of ours, and it’s a big game,” goalkeeper Brian Rowe said. “We’re going to have to come out, especially at home, we need to play at the level that we can play at. We just need to be sharper and better. We just need to believe in ourselves and go from there.”
Added midfielder/defender Ashley Cole, “It’s a difficult game. They’ve got good players. We have a poor record at home. How do we fix that? Who knows? We know that we have to change our fortunes. How do we do it? Miracles."
As the Galaxy look to right the ship,
“It’s a must-win game. All our focus is on that. Everything else aside, they’re our rivals, and they handed it to us last time they came [to StubHub Center], and we have to hand it right back to them this time,” forward Ariel Lassiter said. “We have to get the job done.
“I know the fans are frustrated and as players, we’re extremely frustrated too. Every single player in the locker room is motivated and hungry. We’re going to go and get three points."
