CARSON, Calif. – LA Galaxy head coach Sigi Schmid is hopeful that midfielder Romain Alessandrini will be available for selection for Saturday’s match against New York City FC.
Alessandrini missed out on the Galaxy’s 3-1 defeat to the Portland Timbers on Sunday due to left knee irritation. The 27-year-old who leads the Galaxy in scoring with eight goals and eight assists was back on the training field on Monday ahead of the Saturday clash with New York.
“Hopefully he’ll be able to play this weekend,” Schmid told LA Galaxy Insider. “We were hoping that he would be able to go [Sunday], but he just didn’t feel that he could. He should be alright by this weekend.”
