CARSON, Calif. – Jonathan dos Santos is making progress and could make his first start for the LA Galaxy as soon as Saturday’s clash with New York City FC.
Dos Santos, 27, made his club debut in last Saturday’s 3-1 defeat to the Portland Timbers. The Mexican central midfielder who joined the club last week from C.F. Villarreal went 26 minutes in the loss and could potentially make his first start against New York on Saturday according to head coach Sigi Schmid.
“We’ll see how he feels this week coming through a full week of training and then we’ll make a determination as to what we’re going to do Saturday,” Schmid said. “He felt good today; he said that he was good in training and felt that it’s what he needs to build upon his fitness. He’s the kind of guy that doesn’t get unfit, he maintains his fitness, but it’ll still take some time. We’ll see how much he gets on Saturday.”
