CARSON, Calif. – The LA Galaxy selected Servando Carrasco with the first overall selection in Thursday’s Stage 2 of the MLS Re-Entry Draft. The Galaxy now hold the right to negotiate a new contract with Carrasco and are required to make a genuine offer to the player within seven days, subject to league approval.
Carrasco spent the last two-and-a-half seasons with Orlando City SC where he made 58 appearances and tallied one goal for the Lions. Prior to his stint in Florida, the University of California, Berkeley alum made stops at Sporting Kansas City, Houston Dynamo and played three seasons with current Galaxy head coach Sigi Schmid with Seattle Sounders FC. In total, the 29-year-old has made 126 appearances in MLS with 77 starts, scoring twice and notching five assists.
The Southern California native was one of only three players selected in Stage 2 with Gonzalo Veron being drafted by DC United and Callum Mallace selected by LAFC.
