LOS ANGELES – Jonathan dos Santos isn’t going anywhere.
The LA Galaxy midfielder and fan-favorite told reporters during the team’s final media availability of 2019 that he has no plans to leave the LA Galaxy and would wish to end his career with the club when the time comes.
“I want to stay. Like I have said it before, I am very happy here with the fans, the club, with my teammates. If it was up to me, I would finish my career here – I still have a lot of years left but you know it doesn’t depend on me, it depends more on the club than on me,” dos Santos said.
“I would like to stay here for the remainder of my career. I think I have five, six, seven years left to play, and I am very happy here. My family is also happy here when they come visit me. I am very close to them, it’s a three-hour flight to Mexico so I am very happy here. A I said, there’s a lot of Mexicans here, a lot of love so this is like my home.”
The Mexican international has made 28 appearances for the Galaxy this season, registering two goals and three assists. His success led to the midfielder being awarded LA Riot Squad Player of the Year.
After reaching the Conference Semifinal following two seasons of missing the postseason, dos Santos is confident that the best is yet to come for the Galaxy.
“The team is improving every year. Every year it is looking better in every aspect. It’s true we have some things to improve, like small details defensively but that’s it. I think next year the team will be even better, we will also have new players. We have to be calm because I know next year will be ours.”
